Young Volunteer of the Year (Aged 14-18).
Alicia is a pioneer in the Aire/Wharfe League and Halifax Cricket League for her use of electronic scoring. She provides a dependable example of good practice for the weekly 1st XI and 3rd XI down at her club, Illingworth St Mary's Cricket Club. She willingly and enthusiastically shares knowledge, training and supports other scorers in all areas of scoring.
She moved from a junior player to a helper to a coach, gaining her ECB Assistant Coach Qualification and has now coached the All Stars at the club for two years. She supports junior teams, practices, junior events, offers school festivals coaching and officiating, creates proactive club and school links and is always at all club events.
From humble beginnings at Whitehill Primary School Chance to Shine Festivals as a Y4 (in 2007), she moved through the teams; from U11, U13, U15 and U17 teams to 2nd XI and weekly 3rd XI appearances. She also began playing for West Yorkshire Ladies XI and was the only female player in HxU19 T20 Competition in 2019.
Alicia is also a regular worker with the ground maintenance team. She helps with wicket rolling, grass cutting, removing water and moving the covers as needed. She is a regular at NatWest CricketForce days.
Often a reliable ‘go to’ person for involvement, she has a vast knowledge of the workings of the club. She is always engaged in providing organisation and help at club events, including provision of refreshments, meals and washing up behind the bar. Even in the winter months, she continues to work regularly at the club, as well as working with schools and juniors.
Alicia is a fantastic example to members of all ages and has made a significant impact at the club for a good number of years. Congratulations to Alicia on a very well deserved award!
