Outstanding Contribution to Cricket Coaching.
Colin Bunn has been the driving force in establishing girls cricket at Rawdon CC; which has flourished since its introduction three years ago. Colin has tapped into his knowledge and contacts in the Yorkshire junior cricket community to obtain equipment, coaching assistance and arranged for the Yorkshire Diamonds Ladies team to run a session at the club, which really brought young interest at the club to a new level.
Most of the time though, it is Colin coaching the girls on his own or enlisting help from his children Izzy and Eliot, who have both made their way through representative cricket with Yorkshire. His sessions are well thought out and planned to ensure girls of all levels and abilities get as many opportunities to play cricket as possible. He organises cricket festivals and is constantly looking for matches with various other clubs to run alongside the league matches. He also coached the boys U15s team for the last two years and helps with U17s.
Colin goes about his business in an unassuming way and was a natural choice when we needed to find someone to take over as Child Welfare Officer and is a conduit of knowledge on the evolving routes into representative cricket for our juniors. He never seeks praise or plaudits and is someone everyone within our cricket community at Rawdon looks up to. As with every club, we continue to seek more volunteers in local cricket – Colin will also support the senior teams be it by scoring, umpiring or making sure that teas are provided.
All at Rawdon have long acknowledged that Colin is a great asset, but these achievements definitely warrant wider recognition. Well done to Colin on a very well deserved award!
