Clifford Smith Award for Services to Youth Representative Cricket (Joint).
Peter Taylor adores cricket at any age group and, over many years, he has been driven to give back to the game he loves. Despite issues of participation in junior cricket, he has been at the forefront in the organisation and management of the Halifax Junior Cricket League, where his commitment and drive to develop young cricketers in the Calderdale area, over many years, cannot be overstated.
He is meticulous in his organisation; which ensures the junior teams he manages receive the best experience for all the young people playing the game. In Calderdale, he has fostered the Halifax League’s relationship with the Cricket Asylum in Sowerby Bridge - a relationship that now forms the cornerstone of the league’s coaching programme. The fact Calderdale produces many youngsters in Regional squads is down to this relationship which he has galvanised.
Through his involvement with Yorkshire Joe Lumb, Festival Boards and junior teams representing Calderdale, he has built up fantastic relationships with players and parents. In recent years he has produced younth representative teams in Calderdale that have seen much success. This led to Peter becoming Junior Coach of the Year in Halifax.
This is only a brief picture of Peter’s cricketing life - but it's clear that this award for Services to Youth Representative Cricket is very well deserved. Congratulations to Peter on all of his amazing achievements.
