Middlesbrough and Leeds battle it out.
The Chance to Shine Street event took place at Eston Leisure Centre, Middlesborough, where two competitions ran simultaneously. Three teams entered both in the U12 and U15 categories; two from Leeds and one from Middlesbrough for each age group.
The day ran using normal Tape Ball rules of 6 players a side and 20 balls per innings, consisting of 5 overs of 4 balls each.
In the morning, the teams played a round robin friendly tournament for all players to familiarise with the rules and format. Each team played each other twice.
In the afternoon, the competitive fixtures started in the same format of a round robin tournament, where each team played each other twice.
Both U12 and U15 categories finishes in a three-way tie after all fixtures were completed. So, each category then proceeded into an three team bowl out competition. In both categories, the bowl out came down to sudden death between the two Leeds teams as Middlesbrough won the ‘Bowl Out’ with two strikes in each category.
Then each category proceeded into a ‘Super Over’ - 6 balls, team with highest score wins.
Leeds A won the U12 Super Over and Middlesbrough won the U15 Super Over.
