are you aware of the Association of Cricket Officials (ACO).?
The ACO is a Membership Association for both umpires and scorers. Currently across the country the Association has in excess of 8,000 members and a aim of the Association is to increase this membership with specific reference to Scorers.
For all panel umpires in the league, membership of ACO is mandatory. For scorers, membership is optional and up to the individual. A number of scorers have opted to be Association members, with the benefits being:
- A comprehensive Insurance scheme (which covers the person from leaving home to returning home on match days).
- Access to excellent education and training courses.
- Membership of a national association.
- 4 Newsletters a year relating to umpiring and scoring matters.
- Access to ECB ACO merchandise and equipment.
The cost of membership to ECB ACO is £30.00 per year per member, with reduced subscription for under 25's.
Clubs are encouraged to support their scorers in becoming members, with the option to reimburse their scorers' membership in recognition of their commitment to scoring? Membership is good value, including the comprehensive Insurance cover.
