in first fixture.
The Under 13 Development team were beaten by Leicestershire on a hot day at Long Whatton CC.
Yorkshire batted first on a dry and dusty track and got off to a good positive start as Jack Brady and Rhys Ditta put the bad ball away and rotated the strike well. Both were disappointed by their dismissals as they played a little too square to straight balls, with Jack clean bowled and Rhys getting a leading edge. Yorkshire then lost Harry Finch but at 60 for 3 on a testing deck, were still in a good position. The introduction of leg spinner, Sindhal, completely changed the game. He bowled with great control and impressive variations to finish with 6 for 4, Yorkshire being bowled out for 82.
In reply the Yorkshire team's attitude was fantastic and the players stuck to their task commendably. George Booth (2 for 10) was the stand out seam bowler, with Clark Doughney bowling very well on his county debut, finishing with 3 for 15 from his nine overs. At 50 for 6, Yorkshire were another quick wicket away from being in a winnable position before the Leicestershire batsmen seized back the initiative to win by 4 wickets.
The Yorkshire side move onto a tough game against Warwickshire U14 Development on Sunday with lessons to be learned but smiles still on the lads faces.
