Match report from the U11 Development Roses win against Lancashire.
Yorkshire lost the toss on a damp wicket and were duly invited to bat. Opener Billy Armistead showed some grit and determination early on as he battled to 18 whilst seeing wickets tumble at the other end with a mixture of good bowling and poor batting which saw Yorkshire in trouble at 36 for 6.
Up stepped Harvey Round (42) and Finlay Hill (44) who put on a superb partnership taking the game to the opposition as Yorkshire finished 129 all out.
Harvey Rounds day was about to get better as in the 3rd over of Lancashires innings he took a superb hat trick clean bowling the first two of them middle stump. Lancashire were 15 for 4 and 30 for 5 but recovered to 89 for 5 and looked back in control. Opener Alex Burton was brought back in to the attack immediately taking two wickets in two balls to swing the match back in Yorkshires favour. Some good bowling and excellent fielding saw Lancashire struggle to keep up with the run rate and with 3 overs to go they still required 25. Rohan Ratnalingham and Archie Barraclough bowled well at the end leaving Lancashire just short of the required runs on 124 for 7.
A great performance that showed a lot of character from the boys.
