Match reports.
Yorkshire U15 Development v Wales U15 (2x T20), held at Northop Hall CC on Thursday 2nd August 2018.
The Under 15 Development team recently made the trip to North Wales for two T20 matches against Wales at Northop Hall CC - a great ground in a stunning location.
Game 1
Wales 190-6 beat Yorkshire (Kyle Welsh 67, Ben Collinson 44, Jacob Slator 41*) by 10 runs.
In the first game, Wales batted first and their experience in this format showed through. At the top of the order, Jack Perry (69) and Harry Friend (60) took the game to Yorkshire and set up a high score of 190 for Wales. All the bowlers tried hard and Liam Blacker Meek returned figures of 2-18 from three overs. A challenging total for the team. Losing the captain run out for a duck didn’t help, but a good knock of 44 from Ben Collinson and 42 not out from Jacob Slator kept Yorkshire in the hunt. By far the stand out batting performance for both sides was the innings from Kyle Welsh to rescue Yorkshire's innings and get them very close to the target when he was out for 67 from 32 balls (8 x 4s and 3 x 6s) with some impressive hitting. Unfortunately, Yorkshire fell ten runs short on 180-6.

Game 2
Yorkshire 169-4 (Max Harland 57, Kyle Welsh 43* Ben Collinson 25*) beat Wales 156-9 by 13 runs.
In the reverse game, Yorkshire batted first and made a great start through Max Harland (57 from 30 balls), and Jake Smart (24), with an opening partnership of 82. Kyle Welsh again showed his form, with 43 from 26 balls, and Ben Collinson hit a late 25 from 15 balls to get the team to 169-4 from 20. In reply, the bowlers executed their plans better, got the field placings right and restricted Wales a lot better than in the first game. Jack Parry made 45 for Wales and Ben Kellaway 34 late on. The bowling in this game was a lot tighter and Wales finished on 159-9; so a great win for the team to even up the day. Nathan Kenworthy returned 2-17 from 3 overs and Hasaan Shakoor 2-23 from 4 overs. Josh Stephenson, with his bag of All Sorts, took 2-18 from 3 overs and Ben Ward bowled the last three overs at one end to return figures of 2-23, which was impressive at the death.

A great fixture between two teams who are well matched, at a great ground with great hospitality - meaning a great day for the team! We look forward to taking Buckinghamshire on, later in the month at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
