Match reports.
Yorkshire U14A v Warwickshire U14, held at Scarborough CC on Sunday 22nd July.
Yorkshire 247-9 (Matthew Weston 100*, Rhys Ditta 41, Tom Douglas 32, Noah Priestley 30) beat Warwickshire 139 all out by 108 runs.
A sunny morning greeted the lads at the iconic North Marine Road County Ground in Scarborough for the first of two days of cricket against Warwickshire. Captain for the day Harry Allinson won the toss and elected to bat first on a fresh wicket, which looked a belter. Openers Allinson (5) and James Blackburn (1) fell cheaply, both caught on the legside, to get the innings off to a rocky start at 6-2 before Rhys Ditta (41) and Matthew Weston (100*) came together at the crease and rebuilt the innings exceptionally before beginning to up the run rate to put the pressure back on the Warwickshire bowlers. Ditta fell stumped, overbalancing whilst facing one of Warwickshire's excellent spin bowlers. This led to a mini-collapse with Nico Nicola (0) run out and Harry Finch (13) caught smartly down the legside - leaving the innings in the balance at 133-5. Some lower order fireworks from Noah Priestley (30) and Tom Douglas (32) provided support for Weston who went on to complete an exceptional century in the last over, showing some real maturity and talent throughout the innings as Yorkshire posted a competitive 247-9 from their 50 overs.
In the second innings, a tight and hostile spell of opening bowling from Alex Midgley (1-22) and George Horbury (2-10) made early inroads, before the introduction of Jack Young (2-34) tightened Yorkshire's grip on the innings. Priestley's (2-33) fiery spells picked up two key wickets before that man Weston was introduced to the attack, claiming 2-14 to wrap up the innings, bowling Warwickshire out for 139 in 39.3 overs.

Game 2:
Yorkshire 125-5 (Harry Finch 77) beat Warwickshire 123-8 by 5 wickets.
The second T20 fixture of the day saw Warwickshire bat first. Through some excellent bowling and fielding, Warwickshire were restricted to 123-8 from their 20 overs with the spin of Weston (3-0-18-2), Alfie Spencer (4-1-17-1) and skipper Jack Young (1-22) restricting the scoring options through the effective execution of plans. Quality fielding standards were maintained throughout, saving numerous runs and creating opportunities to help build additional pressure. George Booth (1-5) and Mansoor Shinwari (1-18), along with Alfie Spencer, stepped up from the development team and fitted straight into the team, executing their skills under pressure towards the end of the innings. Once again Noah Priestley was amongst the wickets (2-21), proving his versatility as a bowler across all formats.
In reply Harry Finch (77) took centre stage, making the most of the opportunity to open the batting putting on 63 in the Power Play overs, alongside Tom Douglas (13). Wickets fell around Finch but he showed his maturity and skill to nearly guide the team to victory; falling just short of carrying his bat before Priestley (11*) and Weston (2*) finished off the job, reaching the target with 5 overs to spare.
