Weather halts play against Lancashire.
On Tuesday 8th August, Yorkshire U13A played against Lancashire U13 in a non-Championship game at Clifton CC, near Swinton. Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat moving on to 39 after 16 overs before they lost their first wicket. Joe Norbury and George Horbury opened the bowling, both bowling well but with no success. After 9 overs, with the score on 27-0, they were replaced by Harry Watkinson and Noah Priestley. Noah proceeded to bowl five consecutive maidens one of which was a wicket maiden. Spinners Jack Young and Clarke Doughney came on to bowl next and continue to turn the screw. The Lancashire innings finished on 150-6 after 45 overs. Noah Priestley (2-13), Jack Young (1-14), George Horbury (1-19) and Harry Watkinson (1-26) were the wicket-taking bowlers with a good run out from Rhys Ditta completing the 6 wickets.
In reply Yorkshire U13A set off well. Matthew Weston (14*) and Alex Cree (24*) had taken the score on to 41-0 after 16 overs when the Umpires, who had done well to allow play to continue in the constant drizzle, took the players off. The game was abandoned shortly afterwards.
