Hallam & York CC take the honours.
Despite the rain and fixture congestion caused by a damp start to the season, the Yorkshire U13 and U15 club competitions has produced 2016 winners in Hallam CC (U15s, pictured) and York CC (U13s).
On Sunday 19th June the U-15 finals day was held at Hunslet Nelson CC, with semi final victories for Hallam CC against Wath CC and Richmondshire who defeated TABs. Heavy rain saw the final being abandoned after 30 overs and replayed at Moorlands CC on Sunday 26 June. A nail biting final between Hallam and Richmondshire ended in a tie, with both sides finishing on 118 for the loss of 8 wickets. Hallam secured the victory on the basis of having scored 112 at end of 19th over against the Richmondshire score of 104 at end of 19th over.
The U-13 finals day played at Mirfield CC on Sunday 26th June was also rain affected, with games shortened to ensure completion of the fixtures. In the first semi final Barnsley defeated Sheffield Collegiate to set up a final against York who came through an exciting victory against North Yorkshire neighbours Harrogate. In the final York proved too strong for Barnsley winning by 8 wickets.
Thanks are expressed to Hunslet Nelson, Mirfield and Moorlands CC for hosting the finals and to the tournament organisers for their sterling work!
Good luck to both sides in the next stages of the competition.
