AS LANCASHIRE LEVEL SERIES.
Lancashire avenged a home defeat by Yorkshire U12 Development team at St Helens earlier in the season with a 38-run victory at Clifton Alliance Cricket Club ([pictured)in York.
The Red Rose county elected to bat on winning the toss and built a platform for a competitive score with a 73-run partnership.Archie Haddon eventually broke through for Yorkshire, trapping Aston in front for 32, and in the following over Lachlan Doidge won an LBW appeal against Stanley, who had scored 29.William Chapman also claimed a wicket while Matthew Simms finished with figures of two for 22 on his home ground.Lancashire closed their innings on 158 for six, their total aided by Yorkshire failing to hit their usual high standards in the field.
The Yorkshire reply started badly as they slipped to 13 for three and despite a 30-run partnership between Haddon and Tate Miller, the normally reliable middle order collapsed.
Yorkshire at one stage looked destined to suffer a heavy defeat when toiling at 59 for nine. A superb last wicket partnership turned things round for the home side. Batting with real authority, George Crowther - aided by Chapman - threatened to steal an unlikely victory. The pair put on a 61-run stand despite some excellent field placings by the visitors before Lancashire eventually grabbed the final wicket, Crowther bowled for an excellent 41. Chapman, meanwhile, finished unbeaten on 18 but Lancashire held their nerve to square the series
