Congratulations
Wrenthorpe were crowned North of England ECB U15 Lady Taverners 2015 T20 Cricket Champions at the weekend. The 8 a side competition had over 130 team entries who were all contesting a place in the finals.
Wrenthorpe are one of four teams that will now go through to the National finals and will play against opposition from the South of England, South West and Midlands at Grantham cc on July 29th after winning the Northern Group.
Wrenthorpe Girls had already defeated Yorkshire opponents Olicanians and North Stainley and Richmond, Lancashire side Stockport Trinity before the Regional final away to Clitheroe cc.
Losing the toss Wrenthorpe were put into field and the tone was set right in the first over when Izzy Bunn took a spectacular catch to dismiss the Clitheroe opener. Wrenthorpe took 5 further catches and two run outs to dismiss Clitheroe for just 58 inside 20 overs.
Bowlers Adrianna Darlow (5-1-9-2) and Izzy Bunn (5-2-6-2) finished with two wickets each whilst economical bowling by Leah Dobson and Ellie Rooney-West keeping the Clitheroe score to a minimum.
Wrenthorpe’ s batters have been in imperious form throughout this competition and despite losing early wickets won the game comfortably in 8.5 overs with Laura walker 15 n.o. and Izzy Bunn 18 n.o. anchoring the innings for the young Wrens. Wrenthorpe finished on 62 for 3 and worthy North of England Champions.
