Match report.
Yorkshire 50+ v Staffordshire 50+, held at Clifton Alliance CC on Sunday 5th August 2018.
Yorkshire 50-0 (Kevin Bradley 26*) beat Staffordshire 47 all out (Stephen Foster 5-11, Mark Wilson 3-9) by 10 wickets.
Having completed the Group 1 fixtures as outright winners (7 out of 7) in the ECB 50+ Championship, Yorkshire qualified for a home draw through to the semi-final, should they continue to be successful. Yorkshire entertained Staffordshire at the Clifton Alliance Club in York and inflicted a stunning victory on their visitors.
Batting first, Staffordshire were soon in trouble, losing their first four wickets to accurate bowling from Mark Wilson (3-9) and Mo Shahnawaz (1/12). However the highlight of the bowling effort came from Stephen Foster, who, in an accurate spell of 8 overs recorded 2 maidens and figures of 5/11, as the score moved from 27/4 to 32/8. A shell-shocked Staffordshire eventually subsided to 47 all out off 27 overs. It should be said that the bowling performance was well supported in the field by a superb performance throughout.
In reply, openers Kevin Bradley (26*) and Nick Gaywood (13*), helped by 11 extras, completed a 10 wicket victory in 4 overs. The match concluded at 3:30pm.
The next game (Quarter Final) v Cornwall 50+ is set for 12th August, 1:00pm start at Malton & Old Malton CC (YO17 7EY). Come down and support out over 50's in their search for another County Championship!
