Match report.
Yorkshire 50+ vs Derbyshire 50+, held at Rolleston CC on Wednesday 11th July.
Yorkshire beat Derbyshire by 10 wickets.
Yorkshire concluded their Group 1 fixtures and guaranteed a last 16 place in the knock out stage of the 50+ County Championship with a convincing 10 wicket win over Derbyshire 50+ away at Rolleston CC.
The home side batted first and, after a steady start, passed the 50 mark losing only one wicket. From then on however, wickets fell regularly as opener Ian Wakefield watched from the other end before he was stumped by Paul Langley as the penultimate wicket to fall, for 45. Derbyshire were dismissed for 109, with only three batsmen reaching double figures and 23 extras being the second highest 'scorer'! Tight bowling contributed to the low scoring. Dave Burden led the way with 4-12 off his 9 overs with able support from Mark Wilson (1-18), Haider Jahangir (1-17) and Mo Shahnawaz (1-26). Captain Steve Wales wrapped the innings up with (2-1).
In reply, Yorkshire coasted to victory without losing a wicket. Graeme Wolfendon, promoted to open the innings, scored a well-worked 50* and Kevin Bradley supported with 45*, both striking eight boundary 4s.
Yorkshire are now guaranteed a last 16 home draw on Sunday 29th July (when the draw is made) and details will be released when known.
