Yorkshire 50+ v Cornwall 50+ (County Championship Quarter Final), held at Malton & Old Malton CC on Sunday 19th August 2018.
Yorkshire 263-3 (Kevin Bradley 102, Stephen Foster 62*, Graeme Wolfenden 54, John Goldthorpe 30*) beat Cornwall 157 all out (Mo Shahnawaz 3-23) by 106 runs.
Yorkshire hosted their quarter final against Cornwall after having the fixture postponed the previous Sunday due to bad weather. The match went ahead at the second time of asking at Malton & Old Malton CC.
Winning the toss, the hosts batted first with Kevin Bradley and Graeme Wolfenden opening with a partnership of 160. Bradley notched 102 as his partner Wolfenden scored 54, before the latter was stumped off bowler Clement - gaining the first of his 3 wickets - the only ones to fall (3/48). Bradley fell soon after with the score at 165 before Stephen Foster (62*) and John Goldthorpe (30*) took the total to 263 in an unbroken stand of 85.
The final score of 263 was always going to be difficult to attain on such a big ground and so it transpired. Two scores of 22 and one of 23 were the highest individual scores for the visitors with Mo Shahnawaz (3-23 off 6.5 overs) leading the attack with Mark Wilson (1-39) and Stephen Foster (1-15 off 6 overs) preceding the 2 spinners: Dave Burden (2-37) and Stephen Booth (2-31), who combined to produce the overall usual tidy bowling performance as Yorkshire won by 106 runs to seal their semi final place.
