Yorkshire U11 Phoenix traveled to Staffordshire to look to continue their great run of form, having only lost to the Tykes squad so far.
Having won the toss and electing to bowl, the Yorkshire bowlers continued their form from the season so far, reducing the hosts at one point to 8-5. Ibrahim Shakil, posted superb economical figures of 2-1 off 5 overs and, at the other end, Josh Tynan, finished an outstanding spell of bowling, with figures of 5 overs, 4 wickets for just 3 runs.
At the end of the opening spell, Staffs were 15-6 and there was no let up from the first change pair. Tom Bradley backed up his previous performances with another spell of 2-10 off 4 overs and Aidan Gaunt Edwards was equally as devastating, taking 2 wickets for just 2 runs off his 4 overs.
Throughout the innings the Yorkshire fielding had been at a high standard, demonstrated by a stunning catch from Connor Sanderson.
This high standard was to bring the Staffs innings to a close as, from Musa Altaf's very first delivery, the ball was dropped into the offside for a quick single and the field quickly closed in to execute the run out and end the innnings on 24.
The Yorkshire openers Aaurash Shinde and Joe Birks set about the task of chasing down the total and were faced with a good opening spell by the Staffordshire bowlers.
Their patience was rewarded as opportunities to score increased and the pair were able to scoring the winning runs, without losing a wicket, in the 9th over. Shinde finished in style with 2 boundies to close on 17* while Birks was unbeaten on 7*.
