Match Report
Heavy overnight rain continuing into the morning greeted the lads on the first morning of tour. Tour organisers made the call to move the pitch on the astroturf pitch due to waterlogged conditions on the normal pitch to ensure a full 40 over game was completed. Captain Noah Kelly won the toss and elected to bat first. The early wickets of Joe Pyrah, Sabir Mahmood, Freddie Chapman and Tom Burton would normally have pegged the team back however Noah and Jawad Akhtar came out and played two fantastic counter attacking innings to put the pressure back onto the Worcestershire bowlers and fielders. Jawad fell shortly after making his first half century of the season for 52 after a stand of 151, Noah motored on to complete his maiden century for Yorkshire before eventually finishing on 155 from 96 deliveries. Some late order hitting from Ayaan Khokhar (28) and Jack Redshaw (14) helped propel the final total to 325 all out in the 40th over. The start of Worsctershire's reply could not have started any better for Yorkshire with Leo Wilson (5-1-9-4) and Jack Redshaw (5-2-9-2) bowling superbly and supported brilliantly in the field to help build pressure before Josh Hen-Boisen (2.3-1-16-2) and Elliot Robinson (3-0-12-1) finished the job off professionally to bowl Worcestershire out for 61 in 16.3 overs. Overall a fantastic start to the Taunton Festival.
