Match report.
Yorkshire U12 Development v Lancashire U12B, held at Norden CC on Wednesday 15th August 2018.
Yorkshire 125-9 (Billy Armistead 38, Joe Pyrah 25) beat Lancashire 62 all out (Harvey Round 4-10, Aaron Patel 4-10) by 63 runs.
Yorkshire U12 Development team finished their 2018 campaign with a resounding win over the Red Rose and ended unbeaten in the 40 over format.
Noah Chapman lost his second coin toss of the season as Lancashire asked Yorkshire to bat and the skipper was the first casualty. A stand of 51 was posted by Billy Armistead and Joe Pyrah before Joe was bowled for 25, to take his run tally for the season to a very creditable 325. Freddie Chapman joined Armistead and the score advanced to 83 before Chapman departed for a quickfire 18. 12 runs later, Armistead was bowled for a well made 38 before another wicket fell on 95. Runs were proving hard to score as the weather intervened, forcing a couple of rain breaks. On resumption Myles Wood, together with the tail, managed to get the score to 125. Wood departed for 14 as Yorkshire reached a score that was not as competitive as hoped. But, with the wicket being a little bit bowler friendly, there was confidence in defending that total.
Superb bowling exploited the conditions on offer and soon saw Lancashire slump to 14 for 5, with Harvey Round recording figures of 4-10, supported well by Archie Barraclough (1-6). Freddie Chapman chipped in with a wicket after Lancashire had only added another 4 runs to their score. 18-6. A stand of 28 made the scoreboard look a little better, but Aaron Patel then took the first of his 4 wickets and only a late flourish by the Lancs no 11 took the score to 62 all out. Patel returned figures of 4-10, extracting bounce and turn aided by some excellent catching and fielding.

A great end to a fantastic season for the U12 Development team, who finished unbeaten in the 40 over format, the only defeat was the 2 x T20 games. However this should not detract from the tenacity and fighting spirit displayed when some of the games went down to the wire. A great set of lads who were exceptional with their fielding and catching. Thanks also to Ben Holderness and Andy Exton for their input and efforts.
