Match report.
Yorkshire U13A v Cumbria U13, held at Skipton CC on Sunday 24th June 2018.
Yorkshire 48-2 (Alex Cree 31*) beat Cumbria 45 all out (Alex Wood 3-4, Matthew Simms 3-5)
On Sunday 24th June, Yorkshire U13s played their second game in the ESCA Northern Counties Cup at Skipton CC.
Winning the toss, Cumbria elected to bat first on what appeared a low, slow wicket. Captain for the day, Lachlan Doidge, gave Matthew Simms and Harrison Knowles the opportunity to take the new ball. Both boys struck early, with Simms taking 3-5 and Knowles 1-6. Thereafter, spin was the chosen means of attack for the rest of the innings. Doidge bowled well taking 2-7, while Matthew Hood had his first bowl of the year, taking 1-7. Caleb Bradford bowled with accuracy while Alex Wood completed the spin attack, taking the last 3 wickets for a miserly 4 runs. Cumbria finished on 45 all out in 25.1 overs.
In reply, Yorkshire made light work of their target, knocking off the runs for the loss of two wickets in 8 overs, with Alex Cree unbeaten on 31*. Another good win, although some work still to be done in the field.

Batting first, Yorkshire amassed a healthy total of 190-2 in their 20 overs. Leo Diffey hit a quickfire 21, opening the innings. Captain Doidge hit some elegant strokes and ran well between the wickets in a match winning innings of 101 retired not out in 78 balls, ably supported by Zak Jahangir (37*) and Elias Smith (21*).
In reply, Cumbria made a spirited reply. Eventually, finishing on a more respectable 94-6 in their allocation of overs. The wickets were shared about with Caleb Bradford being the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-9 in his 4 overs.
