On Sunday 18th June, Yorkshire played against Wales U13 in a friendly game at Sheffield & Phoenix Utd CC on a hot, sunny day. Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat. The team took an early blow, when skipper Matthew Weston was out to an excellent delivery from Frank McDonald-Brown for the first ball of the game. He was replaced at the wicket by Harry Allinson who took up the mantle and carried his bat through the innings to score a maiden 106 not out. Harry was supported by Ollie Lamb (38), Max Adams (25) and Harry Christy (24) taking the team to 222-8 in their 45 overs. Wales started steadily and after 22 overs were 62-2 but then along came George Horbury who blew the rest of the Welsh team away, ending up with match figures of 5-2-7-6, his best ever figures at County level. The other wickets were taken by Harry Watkinson (1-15) and Ben Walsh (3-9). Wales ended the game on 138 all out in 36.5 overs giving Yorkshire U13A a win by 84 runs.
