Match reports.
Yorkshire U14 Development v Warwickshire U14B (2xT20), held at Treeton CC on Thursday 16th August 2018.
Game 1
Yorkshire 101-9 beat Warwickshire 100 all out (James Blackburn 3-15) by 1 wicket.
Both Yorkshire and Warwickshire descended on Treeton CC for a T20 day, following a good degree of overnight rain. A touch of water had made it through the covers and onto the wicket so, upon winning the toss, Yorkshire captain Sam Mindham had no hesitation in asking Warwickshire to bat first. It was slow going as the sticky wicket made scoring difficult. The Yorkshire bowlers all bowled tightly as the visitors ground their way to 65-3. However, ruthless fielding, combined with excellent bowling from James Blackburn (3-15), Kshitij Kapote (2-15) and Jude Roberts (2-11) saw Warwickshire dismissed within the 20 overs for 100.
The chase wouldn't be easy though. Opener Kieran Donnachie fell with just 1 run on the scoreboard. Jack Oakley (22) batted through a difficult early patch, before Blackburn (22) continued in the role of holding the innings together. His dismissal left Yorkshire 8 down with 9 runs to get. The hosts were 9 down just a few balls later. However, a rejuvenated Warwickshire hadn't counted on anther excellent lower order knock from Lewis Hogg (17*), who steered Yorkshire home with patience and skill, with 4 balls to spare.

Game 2
Yorkshire 112-7 (Kieran Donnachie 27) tied with Warwickshire 112-7 (James Blackburn 3-13) - Yorkshire won in a super over!
Yorkshire would bat first in the second game and have the chance to set a total. Openers Jack Oakley (17) and Kieran Donnachie (27) began much better in this game, taking the score to 48 before the first wicket fell. Unfortunately though, no other batsmen could seem to master the pace of the wicket as Yorkshire stuttered to 112-7.
Warwickshire's top order looked in control in the chase and, despite 3-13 from James Blackburn, looked to be cantering to victory with under 10 to get in the final two overs and 6 wickets in hand. Once again, up stepped Lewis Hogg. Hogg's penultimate over of the game went for next to nothing and saw him remove both set batsmen! Warwickshire now needed 6 to win from the final over. George Booth bowled a superb over to restrict the visitors to 5 as the scores were tied.
To cap off the three incredibly tight games with Warwickshire this year, it was decided that the finale would be decided with a super over - a chance for the lads to show what they were made of! Yorkshire weren't short of volunteers and Blackburn stepped up to bowl and Skipper Jack Oakley and Kshitij Kapote came forward to bat. Yorkshire would bowl first. Blackburn unleashed a superb over of slow left arm, going for just 6 runs. Oakley and Kapote then secured the victory with ease in 5 balls to cap off another blockbuster day of U14 Development cricket!
