Match report.
Leicestershire EPP 142-1 beat Yorkshire U14A 141-8 (Sam Spenceley 26, Zak Jahangir 25) by 9 wickets.
A slightly delayed start of a hour due to some wet wicket ends saw Leicestershire win the toss and elect to bowl first. Noah Kelly, fresh from his promotion from the Under 13s on the back of some excellent performances, strode out to the middle alongside Sam Spenceley and made a confident start. Kelly was the aggressor, before a mistimed cut shot off the spinner brought his innings to an end. This brought Sabir Mahmood to the crease who, like Noah, had been promoted on the back of some excellent form for the Under 13s. He set about his work alongside Spenceley, in the face of some good bowling from the four Leicestershire spinners. The going was tough and the score had crept along to 51-2 at the halfway point of the innings. The innings had an increased impetus following a chat from coach Cradds, before Spenceley fell for 26 shortly after the drinks break, followed quickly by Wood. Lachlan Doidge once again took the attack to the bowling before being undone by a brilliant googly, bringing Will Nicholson and Zak Jahangir together. Both pushed the scoreboard on with some intelligent batting before the innings ended on 141-8 from the 50 overs - which seemed well below par on a good pitch.
The Yorkshire boys came out firing with Crowther and Diffey up top - with the latter taking the sole Leicestershire wicket. Will Chapman and Lachlan Doidge bowled tidily with their spin, but the lack of scoreboard pressure made it easy for the Leicestershire boys to knock it around, reaching the target with 15 overs to spare, despite a good bowling and fielding performance from the Yorkshire lads.
