Lincolnshire U14 v Yorkshire U14A, held at Hibaldstow CC on Sunday 1st July.
Yorkshire 147-2 (Harry Finch 64, Harry Allinson 63*) beat Lincolnshire 145 all out (Alex Midgley 3-14, George Horbury 3-18) by 8 wickets.
Captain Matthew Weston made it three straight tosses lost in a row and Lincolnshire opted to bat first on what looked to be a absolute belter of a batting track. Max Didgiunaitis (5-1-14-1) and Noah Priestley (7-1-17-1) set the tone with some tight early overs, eventually leading to Max taking the first wicket, caught at point by Rhys Ditta. With the ball showing no real signs of lateral movement for the seamers, Weston introduced spin at both ends, which brought about immediate success through Clarke Doughney (6-2-20-2) once again bowling an excellent spell of spin with skipper Weston providing a perfect foil at the other end. The introduction of the fiery Alex Midgley (6-2-14-3) followed by George Horbury (6-1-18-3) proved to be a game changer, with some fast, wicket-to-wicket seam bowling proving too much for the Lincolnshire middle and lower order as they were bowled out for 145 in 47 overs.
In reply, ppeners Harry Allinson and Harry Finch got off to a flying start, taking the attack to the Lincolnshire bowlers, with Finch, promoted to open the batting, making 64 in just 51 balls before edging behind with Nico Nicola falling shortly after. Harry Allinson (63*), joined by his fellow North Yorkshire district teammate George Horbury (13*), saw the team over the line, reaching the target in 23.1 overs. The victory was the team's fourth in the ECB Royal London Cup, with Derbyshire the next fixture at Wakefield Thornes CC.

Yorkshire U14A v Derbyshire U14, held at Wakefield Thornes CC on Monday 9th July.
Yorkshire 221 all out (Harry Allinson 53, Nico Nicola 51, Rhys Ditta 32) beat Derbyshire 133 all out (George Booth 3-19) by 88 runs.
Four out of four coin tosses lost for skipper Matthew Weston led to Derbyshire electing field first on a cloudy morning at Wakefield Thornes CC. Some disciplined opening bowling from the Derbyshire bowlers resulted in the early wicket of Weston (2). Rhys Ditta (32) and Harry Allinson (53) played positively, putting pressure back onto the Derbyshire bowlers with a flurry of boundaries. However, poor shots from both let Derbyshire back into the game. Nico Nicola (51) played a patient knock on the way to his maiden half century for Yorkshire whilst others around him fell cheaply. Harry Finch (22) added some impetuous to the innings, putting pressure onto the Derbyshire spinners before a flurry of poor decision making/shot selection from the middle to lower order led to the innings going from 167-4 to 221 all out with 6 overs to spare.
The second innings began with a below par 30 overs from the Yorkshire lads, allowing Derbyshire to get into the innings through a number of missed chances, poor fielding and poor bowling. Clarke Doughney (10-2-17-2) bowled a tight spell but it wasn't until the introduction of Noah Priestley (6-2-21-2) and George Booth (3.3-1-19-3) that some much needed energy and intensity came back into the game as Yorkshire wrapped up the innings and the victory. Although the squad will be happy getting the victory, they will be hoping to get back to their usual standards for the next fixtures against Lancashire, which brings about a format change to T20 cricket at Blackpool CC.
