Yorkshire U15 Development vs Yorkshire Cricket College at New Rover CC on Wednesday 13th June 2018.
Yorkshire Cricket College 244-3 beat Yorkshire 241-9 (Kyle Welsh 75, Jacob Slator 50, Ben Collinson 40).
The new Yorkshire Cricket College XI emerged victorious in the inaugural match with the Yorkshire Under 15 Development Team.
The Development team won the toss and skipper Sam Elstone elected to bat on a very good wicket at New Rover. In the first game of the summer, the batting line up performed well, led by Kyle Welsh, who played very well for 75 runs at the top of the order. Welsh was well supported by Jacob Slator 50 and Ben Collinson 40. For the College XI, James Rogers took 5-34 from 9 and Boeta Beukas 2-42 from 7.
In reply, the College XI lost Will Pallister early, but from then on took command and with scores of 19 from Boeta Beukas and 32 from Harrison Wood, plus 74 not out from Oli Cunningham. The star though was centurion Jonny MacGregor, who hit the winning runs to bring up his century as the College claimed a 7-wicket win with 9 overs remaining. The Development bowlers worked hard during the innings, Jay Smith with 1-32 from 9 and Ben Ward picking up a wicket first ball on debut.
All in all a good match played on a good ground, the Development team look forward to the re-arranged return match next week.
