Match report.
Yorkshire U15 Development vs Cleveland Schools U15s, held at Blackhall CC on Thursday 12th July 2018.
Yorkshire 299-6 (Gavin Whipp 79, Nathan Kenworthy 66*, Max Harland 40, Jacob Slator 29, Ben Collinson 29) beat Cleveland 274 all out (Owen West 4-55, Ben Ward 3-40) by 25 runs.
The U15 Development team travelled to Blackhall CC in Durham on Thursday to play Cleveland Schools U15s. Skipper Gavin Whipp won the toss and elected to bat first on a good wicket. The opening pair of Whipp and Slator gave Yorkshire a good start, putting on 82 for the first wicket. Slator made 29, as did number three Ben Collinson, as Whipp made 79 to put the team in a good position for a late over assault. This was lead by Nathan Kenworthy (66*) and Max Harland (40), giving the development team a total of 299-6 from 50 overs. Harry Crawshaw was the pick of the bowlers for Cleveland with 3-39 from 10 overs.
In reply, Cleveland made an equally fast start, aided by some erratic bowling as Crawshaw made 34, Martin Philpot 88, Lucas Parry 54 and Atticus Garlick 29. This put real pressure on the Yorkshire bowling attack. In response, a great second spell from Owen West (4-55 from 10), an important spell by Ben Ward (3-40 from 10) and good back up bowling from Muhammed Hasaan Shakoor (1-53 from 10) and Liam Blacker Meek (1-20), meant Yorkshire bowled Cleveland out for 274 in the 50th over.
Yorkshire are now set take on Wales in a two day game at Knaresborough CC later in the month.
