Match report.
Yorkshire U15A v Derbyshire U15, held at Castleford CC on Sunday 15th July 2018.
Yorkshire 160-6 (Romir Singh 33, Hector Bowerman 33) beat Derbyshire 159 all out (Louis Beckett 4-20) by 4 wickets.
Yorkshire lost the toss and Derbyshire elected to bat first on a wicket that was easier with pace on. After a fine opening partnership of 80, Louis Beckett made the breakthrough, courtesy of a sharp catch by Alex Kaye. Spinners Ben Stokes and Yash Vagadia continued to squeeze the Derbyshire batsmen and they were all out for 159 in the 47th over.
In reply, Yorkshire’s openers Romir Singh and Hector Bowerman took advantage of some wayward bowling and 50 was on the board within 8 overs. Thereafter, batting was more difficult as the Derbyshire spinners bowled well and wickets fell regularly. It was left to Dan Ford and Luis Adlard to see Yorkshire home with 17 overs to spare.
Yorkshire have now qualified for the ECB County Cup quarter finals but need one more win for a home tie!
