Match reports.
Yorkshire U15A v Warwickshire (2x T20s and 1x 50 over), held at Kenilworth Wardens CC on 12th and 13th June 2018.
Game One:
Yorkshire 154-6 (Dan Ford 53, Leo Johnson 44) beat Warwickshire 104-7 (Cooper Smith 2-11) by 50 runs.
Yorkshire batted first and posted a competitive 154-6 after losing two early wickets. Dan Ford (53 off 35 balls, with 5 sixes) and Leo Johnson (44 with 5 boundaries) counter-attacked and, with some late striking from Cooper Smith and Louis Beckett, Yorkshire's score was well above par.
Yorkshire opened up with Ben Cliff and Matthew Bird, who applied the pressure with tight spells. This was kept up by spinners Ben Stokes, Yash Vagadia and Louis Beckett, all showing good control. With Cooper Smith mixing it up well at the death, Yorkshire ran out comfortable winners.

Game two:
Warwickshire 137-5 (Ben Stokes 3-14) beat Yorkshire 133-6 (Will Luxton 38, Leo Johnson 32) by 4 runs.
Warwickshire batted first in the second encounter and posted 137-5, with good contributions from their middle order. Ben Stokes opened up and bowled well, taking 3-14 in four overs in the power-play. All the Yorkshire bowlers bowled OK, but too many wides (16) were conceded, which would ultimately cost Yorkshire.
In reply, Yorkshire started well, thanks to Will Luxton (38), who fell to a brilliant catch in the outfield, and Leo Johnson (32) putting on 72 for the first wicket. The two were out in quick succession though and, with the Warwickshire spinners bowling well, the later batsmen couldn’t quite maintain the run-rate. Despite Dan Ford striking his first ball and the last ball of the game for six, Yorkshire finished four short. A real lesson in bowling straight.

Game three:
Yorkshire 202-5 (Dan Ford 61*, Yash Vagaida 42, Will Luxton 38, Luis Adlard 26*) beat Warwickshire 200 all out (Cooper Smith 4-16, Ben Stokes 3-54) by 5 wickets.
Yorkshire played a fifty over game on the second day of their trip to Warwickshire. Yorkshire lost the toss and would field first. Ben Cliff and Matthew Bird bowled OK with the new ball and, with Luis Adlard removing Warwickshire’s dangerous number three, Yorkshire kept the pressure on with spinners Harry Sullivan, Ben Stokes and Louis Beckett all bowling tight. Cooper Smith (4-16) then returned to clean out the tail.
Yorkshire had a target of 201 to win. They began well, with Yash Vagadia (42) and Will Luxton (38) putting on an opening partnership of 67. After a mid-innings wobble, Dan Ford (61*) and Luis Adlard (26*) saw them home with an unbroken stand of 60, which included some positive cricket and excellent running between the wickets.
