for second win.
On a cold Monday, Yorkshire Under 15's were in high spirits as they recorded their second win of the season, dominating in the field against an inexperienced Nottinghamshire side.
Opener Amy Jobling led the innings hitting her first half century of the year as the Yorkshire side scored 203 for 6 at Bawtry Road in Sheffield.
After losing opening partner Leah Dobson followed by Fran Goldthorp with the score on 51, Jobling took the anchor role throughout the innings. Jobling was supported by Captain Rachel Slater who set about making a quick fire 19 before being stumped moving out of the crease to the Notts spinner Chloe Rudkin.
With Slater gone, Georgia Draper looked at ease in her new role at number 5 before being stumped off the bowling of Rudkin who claimed her second victim with the score on 100 for 4.
The in form Libby Fox then helped to accelerate the Yorkshire innings until Jobling finally fell with the score on 158 for 5. Fox steered the home side past the 200 mark with Fox ending on 34 Not Out.
The pick of the Notts bowlers was Charlotte Rudkin who ended with figures of 3 for 31 from her allotted 8 overs.
The Yorkshire side began their defence with some tight bowling from the opening partnership of Fenella Hibbert and Katie Baines. Although the Notts openers looked set to give their side a solid start, Catherine French eventually fell with the score on 24.
With Notts under pressure the Yorkshire side reinforced their strong position prior to the drinks break reducing the visitors to xxx for xxx with Annie Cardwell at centre stage taking 4 wickets for only 10 runs from her 6 overs. She was supported by Fox who seemed to be everywhere in the field with a run out and two catches to her name.
Notts began to rebuild the innings although Lauren Garner fell just before the drinks break was due to be taken and the score on 46 for 7. After drinks and a short spell of sunshine, Yorkshire set about Notts with some urgency to clean up the tail.
Spinners Georgia Draper and Katherine ‘KitKat’ Walker removed the last few wickets cheaply as the Notts innings ended at 50 all out.
Coach James Spencer said: “It was great to see the girls put into practice the plans we have talked about in training. We set our standards high with everything we do and today everyone contributed to the success.”
Yorkshire will play their next fixture on 25th May as they travel to Derbyshire prior to the first day of T20’s the following week.
