Yorkshire girls lead the way in 2018 nominations.
The 15th annual Leeds Sports Awards is set to return on Thursday 1st March 2018 at Leeds’ iconic First Direct arena. The awards celebrate the success of Yorkshire’s athletes whilst also commemorating Leeds’ proud sporting heritage. The awards will welcome sportspeople of all levels and abilities, from Olympians to local athletes, as well as their coaches, volunteers, sponsors, dignitaries and more.
Yorkshire’s cricketers naturally have a part to play in the awards and, in the last year, it was our girls who really set the standard! Successes last summer have been mirrored by the nominations and we are very proud to announce that our Yorkshire County Girls U13 & U17 teams have been nominated for Young Club/Team Performance of the year, after both won their respective County Cups in 2017!
From the professional game; Yorkshire Diamonds Captain, 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup winner and Yorkshire’s own Lauren Winfield has also been nominated for Sportswoman of the year, whilst England and Yorkshire CCC keeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow is up for Sportsman of the year!
Well done to all our nominees! We wish them all the best on the night and hope they bring home some very well-deserved awards!
