2017 Young Disability Performer.
Alex is a regular member of the England LD side and has come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years. His pathway to international honours started in the Yorkshire Terriers' side, regularly taking wickets with his medium pace and scoring vital runs in the middle order.
England recognition was never too far away, and he soon made the step up to become a regular member of the England set up, touring the world playing cricket. In the recent tri-series against South Africa and Australia, he returned impressive bowling figures of 5-16 and 2-9 from his allotted overs in the two games in which he bowled.
Alex’s off-field achievements are also highly commended. He is the All Stars activator for his club side as well as being a specialist disability trainer in the community of Doncaster. He is giving back to the game he loves, and is an inspiring role model for people with learning difficulties.
Last summer, Alex completed the YCB’s charity 100-mile bike ride challenge, raising £800 to provide further opportunities to children with special needs. Alex has also passed his driving test allowing him to make his own way to coaching, training and games.
This all goes to show that no matter what life throws at you, you can achieve anything you want through sport! Well done to Alex – an inspiration not only on the field but off it as well.
