Calderdale Cricket Development Group scooped the 2017 George Reah Award for Special Services to Cricket.
The Calderdale Cricket Development Group has grown over the last 10 years and supported many teams and individuals within the Halifax Cricket League.
Their support is often taken for granted but, as a group, they have raised the standard of development, ability and enjoyment of cricket in the area. They have introduced structured coaching and opened pathways into funding streams. Their Groundsman’s group has helped to improve playing areas and facilities to all clubs. This group also hosts regular presentations by the Institute of Groundsmanship to members, offering advice on upkeep of their playing areas.
The Calderdale Cricket Development Group have embraced technology and used this as a major communication tool and, although the group only meet quarterly, they are available to contact all year round. They support clubs to obtain the Clubmark status, sign CRB forms, liaise with school cricket and arrange courses. Calderdale Cricket Development group were also one of the first CDG's to have an active website.
Calderdale have been recognised as one of the best Cricket Development Groups at a national level and the amount of support they provide to so many highlights the fantastic work they do. Well done to Calderdale Cricket Development Group on a very well-deserved award.
