The disability programme for 2014 will be driven by Yorkshire Cricket Board, with vital support from the two other Yorkshire Cricket Partners, the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and the Yorkshire County Cricket Club who form the overarching Yorkshire Cricket Partners Group.
The programme will be developed and overseen by the existing YCB Disabilities Sub-Committee and relevant task forces. The current sub-committee comprises of FDSO, LA SDOs, CSP Officers, SEN Sports Co-ordinators, HI, VI, P&L representatives and county squad coaches and managers.
This sub-committee continues to implement YCB policies and aims relating to all aspects of Disabilities cricket under ECB’s “One Game” Mission. The current Task Forces – HI/VI/PL will work towards the current YCB Disabilities Action Plan, in line with the new ECB Strategic plan 2013-17 “Champion Counties” and the new ECB Whole Sport Plan. They will also play a role in leading the planning and delivery of this strategy.
We plan to engage with the current 48 players in county sides to act in an activation and recruitment role creating new opportunities to play in local communities. We will use consultation and insight gathering to ensure we retain our current player base whilst working towards attracting new players.
We will continue to use Chance to Shine, Yorkshire Charitable Youth Trust and Hit The Top funding to engage with a schools programme, leading to indoor and outdoor competitions. It is anticipated that pilots and activities in the first two years will be concentrated in South and West Yorkshire (approx 70% of total population) to allow for close liaison with deliverers. The potential resource constraints are the cost and time involved in operating across a large region, which is why targeted work will be implemented in year one.
