St Wilfrid's RC Primary School Join Dynamos Bursary Programme
As Yorkshire Cricket Board (YCB) strives to engage more girls to play cricket across the County, St Wilfrid's RC Primary in York joins the Dynamos Bursary Programme.
The Dynamos Bursary Programme, led by Co-ordinator Jamie Boynton, works with schools across Yorkshire to offer FREE places to students at schools with over 40% free school meals provision. The Programme is also available to schools offering girls cricket with a progression route to finding a local cricket club.
St Wilfrid's RC Primary School, who have previously engaged with the YCB through the Chance to Shine Programme are passionate about cricket. With such appetite for the game, the school are exploring the running of a girls only after-school club and be FREE for female students to attend.
The YCB will support the development of the club and provide a kit bag of equipment to run the tailored 8-week programme after-school. Not to mention the personalised t-shirts the girls get as part of the offer!
The programme, supported by Community Club Development Manager Tom Bates and Dynamos Co-ordinator Jamie Boynton, started on the 5th June and already has 21 girls signed up.
Thanks to St Wilfrid's and best of luck to the school who have qualified for the North Yorkshire Year 5/6 Girls Finals at Harrogate Cricket Club on Thursday 19th June. We hope to see the girls playing in local Roses Festivals and club formats very soon.
