Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Appoints Catherine Douglas as New Independent Chair
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of its new independent Chair, Catherine Douglas.
Catherine joins the Foundation with a wealth of knowledge in leadership, strategic development and business growth from the banking and finance industry, as well as experience as a Non-Executive Director and Board member where she advocated positive social impact.
In her new role as Chair, Catherine will provide strategic leadership to the Board of Trustees, working closely with the YCF Managing Director, Shariq Mumtaz to support and strengthen the charity’s mission. She will drive the Foundation’s vision and purpose across recreational and community cricket in Yorkshire, ensuring the game continues to inspire, engage, and positively impact communities across the county.
Shariq welcomes Catherine’s appointment “We are delighted to welcome Catherine to the YCF at such an exciting time. Her previous experience lends itself to the development and the growth we envisage at the charity, to enrich lives and communities across Yorkshire through our committed strategy.
The Board of Trustees and I welcome Catherine to the team and we look forward to working with her.”
Catherine said of her appointment:
“I am thrilled to join the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and am excited to meet everyone. I am an avid sports fan so combining my passion for making a difference with an industry I see business and community growth within is the perfect partnership for me.”
Catherine succeeds Ian Cotterhill who has been acting Chair since the merger of the Yorkshire Cricket Board and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation in July 2025, and a Board Director of the Yorkshire Cricket Board since July 2012.
The Foundation would like to offer its heartfelt gratitude to Ian for his dedication, commitment and enthusiasm for cricket across Yorkshire.
