The Lord’s Taverners are accredited by the ECB as the official national charity for recreational cricket and the UK's leading youth cricket and disability sports charity. Its aims are to encourage greater youth participation in cricket at the grass roots level.
For 2015 the Charity has changed their funding priorities and will no longer run a scheme for cricket bags or non-turf pitches.
The Lord’s Taverners is, however, expanding its Wicketz programme to create sustainable community cricket clubs in deprived communities.
With 800,000 disabled children in the UK (6% of all children) and young people with disabilities half as likely to take part in sport due to lack of access to appropriate equipment, facilities and coaching, the charity is also expanding its disability cricket programmes to give even more young people with disabilities the chance to enjoy the game.
