The safeguarding of young players and vulnerable adults falls under the remit of an umpires duty of care. The YCB has made the safeguarding training of Premier League umpires MANDATORY, whilst, for other League Umpires the training remains HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
When you have completed the training you should download the certificate and email it to your League appointments team.

YCB ACO Umpire Refresher Sessions
These refresher sessions are designed for experienced/qualified umpires who are already active in umpiring. These 'nets for umpires' are ideal to get warmed up for the upcoming season whilst also looking into the more technical aspects of the Laws (the minutiae or the nuances). There is no cost at the point of entry and tea/coffee is usually provided.
If you miss one of the weeks at a particular venue, you can attend the same week at another venue and get the same content.

Umpires Onward Learning Modules
Module C

Module B
This module is suitable for any person aspiring to become a panel umpire. It looks at some of the more common cricket laws in more depth, whilst expanding on some of the others not covered in module C.

Module A
Module A is suitable for those experienced umpires who may wish to become Premier League panel umpires. This Module doesn't look at the Laws as a good knowledge of them is a pre-requisite, but instead looks at Regulation interpretation, disciplinary report writing, Penalty time calculations, effective performance, match management, and how to manage players behaviour. Module A will definitely assist an umpire in making the transition from M4/W4 to M3/W3.
Female only umpires education:
This course is designed to give new umpires the key skills, knowledge and confidence to stand as an umpire in cricket. No prior experience of umpiring in cricket is required before attending the course.
MCC On-line resource
MCC, the Guardian of Law, recently completed a comprehensive overhaul of the Laws. To coincide with the new code that came into effect on October 1st, 2022, they have produced an excellent on-line resource which will take you through each of the Laws, with explanations and examples
This resource is free and open to anyone, all you need to do is go to the Laws of Cricket section on the MCC website https://www.lords.org/mcc/ click on ELEARNING and then click on ‘FIND OUT MORE’ to register or access any of the information without registration by clicking on the appropriate modules.
