The Women's and Girls' game in Yorkshire has grown massively over the last few years and the Yorkshire Cricket Board now has a variety of different offers, from Softball Cricket Festivals for those new to cricket, W&G indoor and outdoor softball competitions, right through to CAG and hardball women's leagues.
We are committed to the ECB 2020-24 strategy for cricket, Inspiring Generations, our aim is to inspire women and girls to say that ‘cricket is a game for me’. Transforming women’s and girls’ cricket is one of six priorities within the strategy and represents the largest growth opportunity for the game. For women’s and girls’ cricket, our ambition is to provide a clear path for women and girls from age five upwards to have a lifelong engagement and love for the game.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Yorkshire Cricket Board are in the process of strengthening the pathway from grassroots clubs to District to Regional to County across the four regions of Yorkshire (North, South, East and West). We run girls county teams at U11, U13, U15 and U18 with a full list of fixtures against other counties throughout the season. Observation days are held twice a year to select girls for our pathway winter training programme and our elite County Age Group Squads.
