Grassroots Cricket Awards.
The annual YCB Grassroots Cricket Awards were held at Headingley Stadium on the 16th November 2022. The awards recognise the amazing work done by cricket volunteers across the county. Awards were presented by Yorkshire players Hollie Armitage and Jack Shutt. The 17 fantastic winners are:
Connecting Communities award - Nasar Hussain, Dream Big Aim High
Coach of the Year award - Jonny Sumner, Pocklington CC
Women's Cricket Development award - Kirsty Gavillet, Bradford area
Growing the Game award - Lorna Fassnidge, Ripon CC
Cricket Innovator award - Shahid Ali, Allama Iqbal CC
Outstanding Services to Coach Development - Amanda Garrard
Unsung Hero award - Lindsay Graves, Sprotbrough CC
Diverse Communities award - Coaches of Great Horton Church CC
Game Changer award - Jordan Croft, Outlane CC
Young Coach of the Year award - Lewis Wigglesworth, Goole Town CC
Volunteer Grounds Management award - Gethin Clarke, Gildersome & Farnley Hill CC
Disability Cricket award - Owen Jervis, Yorkshire DCCC
Rising Star award - Zainab Mahmood, Beeston area
Officials award - Andrew Mitchell from the Halifax League
Inspired to Play award - Josh Buxton, Calder Grove CC
Outstanding Contribution to Coaching award - Dave Wyndham, North Ferriby CC
Our final, and most prestigious, award is that of Lifetime Achiever. Barrie Cox of Whiston Parish Church CC, described as a "legend of local cricket" and has been involved in coaching juniors for over 30 years.
