Young Volunteer of the Year (Aged 19-25)
Chris has made a huge contribution to Burley-in-Wharfedale’s flourishing junior section. For the last two years, Chris has been an ever present at all of Burley’s All Stars sessions, helping out with 80+ kids and always being one of the most popular and enthusiastic coaches, building a great rapport with the kids on their introduction to the game.
Chris has become a key member of the U9s coaching group, helping run the Friday night training sessions and then umpiring or scoring U9s matches every Sunday morning. Chris provides continuity for the kids, seeing a familiar face when they move from All Stars on to the next level.
Earlier this year, Chris completed his ECB Level 2 coaching course and transfers his acquired skills and knowledge into the coaching sessions and the post-match team talks that he gives the kids.
All the kids that Chris coaches have really improved over the season and he will continue to work with them in 1-1 sessions, practice matches and tournaments.
Chris doesn’t live in Burley, so to make the long round trip three times a week (including early Sunday mornings!) shows a great level of commitment and he has become a crucial member of the junior coaching set up.
Well done to Chris on all of his amazing work!
