Services to Umpiring.
Philip Radcliffe became an umpire in 1986, when he joined the Bradford Cricket League Umpires Association, following a playing career in the same league. He still umpires in the league, now known as the Bradford Premier League, and is currently Chairman of the League’s Umpires Association - a post he has held since November 2015. He also represents the Umpires Association on the Bradford Premier League Management Board.
Philip was a member of ACU & S and passed his Part 1 and Part 2 umpire exams in the early part of his career. He became a member of ECB Association of Cricket Officials at its inception in 2008.
He was elected as the first Regional Chairman for the ECB ACO North Region in 2008 and has represented the region on the ACO Management Committee since that time. Philip has also been the chairman of the Yorkshire ACO since it was formed in 2008. Philip has chaired the ECB ACO National Education Committee for several years and the Scorers Committee for a short period.
Whilst ACU & S was in existence, he became a qualified scorer tutor. Within ECB ACO he is still a scorer tutor and an ECB ACO accredited umpire tutor and observer.
Philip has committed many hours to umpiring and many more to the recruitment and training of new umpires and scorers.
He has shown his passion for officiating and administration at local, county and national level over many years.
In addition, he was Chairman of the Yorkshire Cricket Board from 2009 – 2016, having previously been Vice Chairman. He has also been a member of the Bradford Junior Cricket League for over 30 years and presently holds the positions of Chairman and Treasurer. He has also been President of the Joe Lumb Cricket competition and the Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival.
Well done to Philip on this award, after years of dedicated service.
