Francesca Anoble Memorial Award for Young Leader (Joint).
Over the years, Sufiyaan Mahmood has developed into a young adult who now helps to run the Urban Cricket sessions in his local area of Beeston Leeds.
Initially, Sufiyaan started off as a quiet yet talented individual who attended the under 12 sessions as a participant five years ago. Over the last couple of years, he has been leading at the same Urban cricket sessions he was attending back in 2014 and in October/November 2018, he enrolled onto the Sir Stanley Matthews project, through which he completed his Level 1 coaching course. The course has given him more confidence and improved his leadership skills.
Throughout these sessions, Sufiyaan now assists, leads and is a fantastic role model for all participants to look up to. He has also been umpiring and scoring at the 2019 World Cup activation events throughout the Leeds area.
It has been a rapid and remarkable journey from a shy child to a confident young adult, making a difference in his community and giving youngsters a chance to follow in his footsteps.
Well done to Sufiyaan on a very well deserved award.
