Tribute by Andrew Watson.
Yorkshire Cricket is very saddened to learn of the passing of Chris Drury, one of Eckington CC’s most prominent, influential and long serving volunteers. Chris, a Life Member of his beloved Eckington passed away at the age of 73 following a long illness.
He was actively involved in all aspects of cricket for decades and the running of Eckington CC, providing a voluntary service for all senior and junior cricketers alike. He played an active part in the development of junior cricketers both at the club and Sheffield and District level.
He will be best remembered for his passionate views of Eckington CC and the players that the club had produced over the years and for his groundmanship work with his old mate Tony Snidall.
Chris Drury was Eckington CC – his life was at the club.
Andrew Watson said “… We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Chris. He loved life, loved golf, loved cricket, loved Eckington - and we all loved him. Cricket owes Chris a huge debt and we shall be forever grateful…”
