Shining the Light.
The rain stopped play for some in the first round of fixtures of the Yorkshire Women and Girls Super 8s cricket league last Sunday, but not for Bradford Park Avenue ladies who hosted Lightcliffe ladies in a great match. This was one for the history books, because it marks the first official hardball women's league fixture to be played at their ground.
BPA Team A batted first and scored 288 runs but Lightcliffe fell short with 265 runs. Brilliant effort all round by the ladies and a great team spirit and friendly atmosphere.
Everyone involved had a brilliant time and were very grateful to the umpires, scorers, coaches and groundsman for their exceptional support.
Well done to all!
Elsewhere in the League, Anston got the win against Rockingham Colliery in the South Group, whilst Cottingham secured the victory against Yapham in the North/East Group. But Yapham were back to winnings ways this weekend against Tickhill.
