- in recognition of his service
The YCB Members Board has appointed Ian Chappell, the former Chief Executive, their first Patron in recognition of his dedicated service to Yorkshire cricket. A Patron is the highest honour the Board can bestow on an individual and, at their meeting this week, the Board agreed to recognise Ian’s contributions in this way.
Board Chairman Philip Radcliffe commented ‘’Ian has given 29 years of unselfish and dedicated service to the Yorkshire Cricket Board and previously the Yorkshire Cricket Association. He has given so much towards the success of the Yorkshire Cricket Board and its predecessors over many, many years. His contribution can only be described as immense, unique and unlikely to be surpassed.’’
In accepting the position Ian said ‘’ I feel very honoured and humbled by this decision and am honoured to accept the invitation and Patron position. It has been a very great pleasure and very satisfying to work with and develop the YCA and YCB over the years.’’
Ian’s involvement in cricket continues in his retirement through his involvement at North Leeds CC, his opportunity to watch more Yorkshire games as well as being a spectator at local league and junior cricket games.
Ian's connections with the YCB have continued this year as editor of our 2015 handbook - we wish him well in his retirement.
