Match reports.
Lancashire U14 Development 281-9 dec (Charlie McMurran 6-36) and 123-6 beat Yorkshire U14 Development 218-9 dec (Alex Cree 86, Tom Miler 27, Matthew Hood 27) and 183-4 (Joe Barker 52, Tom Miller 50*) dec by 4 wickets.
Yorkshire U14 Development travelled to Wigan CC for the annual 2-day Roses fixture with Lancashire. Lancashire won the toss and elected to field first, under the overcast skies, on a wicket which had taken a good amount of water over the previous days. Yorkshire began well, with Alex Cree (86) building good partnerships with Matthew Hood (27), Tate Miller (13) and Joe Barker (12). At lunch on the first day, Yorkshire were very content on 143-2. Sadly though, Cree fell first ball after lunch. Tom Miller (27) resisted for a while, but the introduction of the Lancashire spinners initiated a collapse before Yorkshire declared just before tea on 218-9.
Charlie McMurran nipped a couple out before tea, as both openers fell. In the evening session, Lancashire recovered well, losing only one wicket as the score rocketed past the hundred mark. Lancashire pressed on with the bat on day two. Charlie McMurran continued to bowl superbly, as he claimed 6-36 in the innings. Lancashire chose to bat all of their allotted 70 overs, allowing number 3, Jack Stanley, to reach his ton (101), well supported by the tail. Lancashire finished their innings on 281-9 declared.
Now 60 runs behind, Yorkshire had to first ensure they got off to a solid start. The Yorkshire top order dug in as they once again gradually took the lead by tea, for the loss of 2 wickets. With the game grinding to a draw, a total was agreed for Lancashire to chase in the 4th innings. Lancashire would require 120 to win, with 20 overs to get them. Yorkshire would have to bowl them out to win. Yorkshire reached 181-4 and then declared.
The Yorkshire attack bowled well, taking wickets throughout the chase as the pendulum swung one way, then the other. The telling performance of the final innings however, came from Lancashire's Jack Stanley once again; Stanley guided his team home with an assured 39* with 4 ball and 4 wickets to spare.
It had been an excellent game of cricket and one which both teams could take great confidence from. There had been plenty of new experiences and some good performances which the lads can rightly be proud of.

Yorkshire U14 Development 71-2 beat Durham U14 70 all out (Charlie McMurran 5-19) by 8 wickets.
Yorkshire U14 Development arrived at Stokesley CC on a grey, drizzly day to face Durham in a 50 over game. Yorkshire captain, Matthew Hood, won the toss and put Durham into bat. Charlie McMurran continued his excellent form, finishing with figures of 5-19. His opening partner, Matthew Simms, also bowled superbly, picking up 1-4 from his 6 overs. After the opening spells, Durham were teetering at 15-5. Durham dug in but wickets from Charlie Pearson (2-18), Alex Wood (1-6) and Harrison Knowles (1-9) brought the innings to an end. 70 all out.
In the chase, Alex Wood (18) got the innings off to a rapid start before he was caught. Matthew Hood got a very good ball and was dismissed for 4, before Tom Miller (22*) and Joe Barker (17*) arrived at the crease to steer Yorkshire to a dominant, 8-wicket victory.
