Match report.
Yorkshire U12 Development 83-8 beat Lancashire U12B 81 all out (Bobby McFarlane 3-7) by 2 wickets.
The next task facing the so far victorious U12 Development team was the old enemy and yet again another hard fought, nail-biting encounter followed. On winning the toss, Lancashire were invited to have a bat on a wicket that looked as if it may offer some assistance to the bowlers. This proved to be the case as Lancashire lost their first wicket without a run on the board. A stand of 34 followed. Jamie Redgwick then claimed the first of his two wickets as he caught and bowled the Lancashire skipper, Laurenson. With the further addition of only two runs, the visitors were reduced to 34-4 as Redgwick claimed his second wicket and Harvey Laverack (2-11) chipped in. With the bowlers holding the upper hand, it was difficult to score. Then Bobby McFarlane returned to mop up the tail and finish with match figures of 3-7. A wicket each for Jay Singh, Will Bennison and Robbie Murray backed up with some good catching and fielding meant that Lancashire closed on 81 all out.
Yorkshire's reply followed a similar pattern but the openers did manage to put 11 on the board before Bennison was caught. Eight runs later, the second wicket fell at 19. 14 runs later, Archie Phillipson perished for 12 and, to make matters worse, two runs later the fourth wicket fell to leave Yorkshire on 36-4, which soon became 38-5. Yorkshire had been here before but it got worse when Robbie Murray was dismissed for a hard fought 12 leaving Yorkshire at 41-6 then 57 for 7 a few overs later. Although only 25 were required, it seemed a long way off. But Harvey Laverack and Oliver Thompson took the score to 72 before Thompson was caught. Laverack carried his bat for 24 not out as Yorkshire got over the line for the loss of 8 wickets. It was another hard fought victory and a lot of credit must go to Laverack for his application and shot selection in the face of some excellent Lancashire bowling. Many thanks to Skipton Cricket Club for use of their excellent facilities and their hospitality.
