- to be part of of the Yorkshire Pyramid
Following a number of discussions the York Vale Cricket League look set to join the Yorkshire Cricket Pyramid by forming an alliance with the York & District Senior Cricket League.
An agreement has been reached between the two Leagues that will see the York Vale League champions promoted into the bottom division of the Y&DSCL region that is best suited to them geographically. For example, should a York based club be champions, they would go into D4 North.
Y&DSCL clubs agreed to accept feeder Leagues by a large margin at an EGM in April 2015.
From 2016 the York Vale League Division 1 champions will have the automatic right, subject to meeting criteria to be promoted to the York & District Senior Cricket League. However, the team will not be compelled to move should they prefer to stay in the YVCL.
Should the champion team migrate to YSL, the club’s second or third teams would remain with YVCL.
Under the arrangement no teams will be relegated from the Y&DSCL.
The Yorkshire Premier League board have confirmed that club transfer rules will no longer apply to Leagues in the same pyramid/alliance and with immediate effect Y&DSCL will no longer accept applications for membership from Vale League clubs. Those that have already been accepted for membership in 2016 are unaffected.
