Yorkshire defeat Cheshire.
Yorkshire 50+ continued their run of success with a 5-wicket victory over Cheshire 50+ at Pudsey Congs CC on 23rd May.
Batting first, Cheshire started brightly, with an opening partnership of 62 between Welbourne (48) and Jarvis (31), before the introduction of Mark Wilson - who took 3 wickets in his first 5 overs, finishing his 9 over spell with 3/19, including 4 maidens. Ably supported by Haider Jahangir (1/23 off 9 overs), the brake was firmly put on the Cheshire middle order, who could only muster 55 runs in the following 20 overs. A stand of 64 between Jackson (28) and Dobson (34) ensured the visitors reached 187/8 from their allotted overs, but they would need to bowl exceptionally well to contain the home side on a good wicket and fast outfield. With all this considered, the excellent fielding for Yorkshire had proved a key factor.
In the chase, Yorkshire proved more than equal to the task, as openers Bradley (29) and Gaywood (78), followed by Jahangir (57), took the score to 169 off 26 overs before a further 2 wickets fell cheaply as the home side got home with 14 overs to spare.
