Match report.
Yorkshire 50+ entertained Northumberland 50+ at Elland CC on an overcast but surprisingly dry day. The visitors batted first, but the Yorkshire's bowlers immediately had a stranglehold, restricting the Northumberland batsmen to 99 for 6 from their 45 overs. It was a somewhat dour performance with only Smurthwaite (39*), batting at five, showing the necessary patience and technique required against the calibre of the Yorkshire bowlers. Steve Foster (2-12 off 9 overs) and Richard Nicholls (2/30) were outstanding for the home side.
In reply, Yorkshire annihilated the visitors' bowling attack, as they cruised to a 10-wicket victory within eight overs; Kevin Bradley (27*) for once playing second fiddle to Nick Gaywood, who was left unbeaten on 64, with 9 x 4s and 4 x 6s.
The next group game is on 13th June, away at Nottinghamshire 50+, at Papplewick and Linby CC.
